Army Reserve team assisting the MFB in providing relief to isolated communities

At the centre of every business is perhaps its greatest asset: employees. The contributions provided by each member are essential to keeping your company afloat. And one of the dedicated members of our team also serves in the Australian Defence Force Reserves.

Eamon, our Undergraduate Accountant, is an Army Reservist and has been called upon to participate in ‘Operation Bushfire Assist’ as part of the Army deployment recently announced by the federal government, to support communities affected by the bushfire crisis across our country.

We had this recent update from Eamon:

“We are currently at Bairnsdale. We’ve been here for a week now. We’re sleeping at the secondary school; if you’re interested, there are some photos here.

There’s over 100 of us here, but we all have different tasks. I’m currently in the “rapid relief team” . Our task is after a fire has burnt through an area, we come in with the CFA or MFB and go around to the burnt out houses looking for survivors, and then visiting all of the houses still standing and providing relief in the form of first aid, supplies, and evacuations if needed.

This is just my current task, I’ve also helped out in other areas such as setting up tents for accommodating 150 US firefighters sleeping in Swifts Creek, and delivering supplies to evacuation centres.

There’s a lot of work to do, and we’re rotating through the jobs, so in a few days I’ll probably be doing something else.“

JPR is proud of Eamon and his commitment. While he is away your Individual Tax Returns will be taken care of by one of our other dedicated accounting team members.

We look forward to Eamon reporting back on the activities in the field over the coming weeks.

In the meantime, JPR will be making a donation to one of the organisations associated with the bushfire recovery; if you would like to donate to one of the causes associated with the bushfires, we have listed a few options below:
