Since graduating from Swinburne University in 1986, Darren has worked in public practice for 30 + years, first becoming a partner in an accounting firm in 2002.

Darren is a CPA and Chartered Accountant acting predominately for small to medium sized businesses with expertise in the Building, Motel and Caravan Park industries.

Darren's strong technical skills and his care for his clients have ensured that Darren has a strong and profitable client base who have been relying on his advice over many years.

Darren is also an Authorised Representative with SMSF Advisers Pty Ltd specialising in Self Managed Superannuation Funds. This qualifications enables Darren to advise clients in areas that are prohibited by legislation for most Accountants.

Darren has been happily married for 30 years and has 2 young adult children who are both currently studying at University.

Darren’s hobbies are mainly sports oriented and he has a keen interest in golf, Australian rules football, and fishing.

In the early mornings, Darren can often be seen walking his dog which helps keep down his stress levels of barracking for the St Kilda Football Club  for many years.


Tony Jolley

 Tony Jolley is a Director and has been an integral part of the JPR Business Group since inception.  H has been in Public Practice for over 30 years and is proud to say he has helped many businesses grow and prosper, and worked with thousands of individual taxpayers manage their tax obligations every year.

As well as his role as a Director at JPR, Tony is also:

  • A fully qualified CPA
  • A member of the NTAA
  • A member of the Tax Practitioners Board
  • Past chair of the Eastern Suburbs Discussion Group and a member for over 15 years,
  • A Registered Companies Auditor

His passion is assisting business grow and prosper, having grown his own business to the size it is today he can relate to the daily difficulties and pressures of being self-employed. These days the business advisory role is becoming more important than any tax obligations and being available to act as a sounding board for business owners is something he takes very seriously.

On the personal side of things Tony has been a life-long Bomber supporter and has hung tough through the last few very difficult years, knowing they will soon be back on top. His love of horse racing is well known and he has been lucky enough to own a few city winners. These days golf has become his other obsession and he has finally achieved his ambition to get down to a single figure handicap.

Tony Polzella – also known as TP – is a Director at JPR Business Group and has worked in public practice for 29 years. He has been a partner in JPR Business Group and it’s forerunners since 2003.

Tony works mainly in the areas of small to medium sized businesses (SMEs) and start-ups and his work involved:

  • Business structures
  • Business planning & strategies
  • Goal setting
  • Setting up processes and systems
  • Business analysis and review

Tony’s focus is to work with his clients to make business easier, more enjoyable and to provide guidance and advice that leads to successful outcomes.

Tony loves being in public practice and the fact that there is never a boring day!

Outside of JPR, Tony’s pleasures in life are dinning out and discovering the great places Victoria has to offer – and with a background in hospitality he is proud to have ticked many off the list.

Tony’s other passions in life include his family – wife and two adult children - soccer (football) & Aussie Rules. He trains 4 days a week in boot camp/CrossFit and conditioning work to keep in shape.


Scott Burchfield

Scott graduated from Deakin University in 2001 and has been working in public practice for the past 18 years. Over that time Scott has managed to assist an extremely diverse range of clients including large scale manufacturers to smaller scale professionals.

In 2008 partnership beckoned and he has been in that role ever since. Scott merged his practice into the JPR family in October 2015 and has thoroughly enjoyed his role in seeing the practice implement new technology and methodologies since.

During his ‘apprenticeship’ under Lawrence Cumper, Scott gained valuable experience dealing with the building and constructions sector and is delighted to say he has assisted many small scale developers avoid some pitfalls in the financial management of their projects.

Away from the Practice Scott is happily married and has three young children. His interests include supporting the often maligned Essendon Football Club, trying to keep up whilst running with his Kelpie and he is an avid netballer.

As a father of three young children Scott looks forward to assisting his clients grow and develop their businesses in conjunction with their lifestyle and family goals.


Jonathan Sear

In 1983 Jonathan Sear started the practice that became Sear and Marsh

Bringing a background in commerce with importing, wholesaling and distribution business to public practice, he assisted clients throughout their whole business cycles. He has had a broad range of experience with many businesses and individual clients including manufacturers, retailers, hospitality businesses, legal practices, medical practices, consultancy businesses, investors, authors and scientists.

He is well known in the accounting profession as a speaker on taxation topics and has served on various federal committees and forums dealing with both broad and specific aspects of tax law and administration. Jonathan was a member of the National Tax Practice Committee of CPA Australia from 1995-2010, and is now a member of the CPA Taxation Centre of Excellence. In 2005 he was awarded the Henry Fox Award by CPA Australia for outstanding service to public practice.

Carol Marsh

Carol became a principal of Sear & Marsh in 2000.

With 16 years public practice in the area of taxation, Carol has over 30 years of experience in the auditing and taxation fields. She has served a broad variety of business and individual clients over those years and specialises in Self-Managed Superannuation Funds.

Completing a Masters of Taxation Studies at Monash University is a reflection of her love of this area of the law. Carol has served on various government and academic committees, professional body panels and local community club management teams, and has authored several published articles. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and CPA Australia Ltd.
